Handpan

There are two families of Handpans: those where the metal is indented at the note locations, following the original model (Hang), producing a somewhat raw sound with many harmonics, and those where the metal is cut (steel tongue), creating a cleaner, purer sound.
The ones I play belong to the second category: Rav Vast, created in Russia and currently manufactured in Serbia.
I particularly appreciate their amazing ample and long-lasting resonance. It’s an instrument with obvious therapeutic qualities, providing great pleasure to play. It’s minimalist yet offers the possibility to explore rhythms infinitely. The models I have chosen are tuned in fairly open modes, allowing for tonal variation.
